Intrusion Detection
(ID) is a type of security management system for computers and networks. An ID system gathers and analyzes information from various areas within a computer or a network to identify possible security breaches, which include both intrusions (attacks from outside the organization) and misuse (attacks from within the organization).
Content Filtering
(also known as information filtering) is the use of a program to screen and exclude from access Web pages and/or e-mail that are deemed objectionable. Content filtering usually works by specifying character strings that, if matched, indicates undesirable content that is to be screened out. Content is typically screened for pornographic content and sometimes also for violence- or hate-oriented content. Parents will use content filtering to screen sites not suitable for their children.
Anti-Virus
(or "anti-virus") software is a class of program that searches your hard drive and floppy disks for any known or potential viruses. The market for this kind of program has expanded due to the growth of the Internet and its increased use by businesses.
Hardware VPN
is a virtual private network based on a single, stand-alone device. The device, which contains a dedicated processor, manages authentication, encryption, and other VPN functions, and provides a hardware firewall. Hardware VPNs provide enhanced security for the enterprise in much the same way that routers offer additional security for home and small-business computer users.
